Originally, Dr. Luke and Max Martin wrote this song for Pink, but she passed on it. The next artist on their list was Hilary Duff, but she didn’t feel that she could reach the high notes. Finally, Luke and Martin were talked into giving the song to Kelly Clarkson. Dr. Luke would later describe her as “the Lance Armstrong of vocal cords.” In other words, the project worked out perfectly in the end.
